GRAFTONThe UrbanRiver Visions 2 site for the Town of Grafton is within the historic Farnumsville Mill Village, located along the Blackstone River and Canal. The charrette explored opportunities to revitalize the Farnumsville Mill and its surroundings, and to improve connections to the nearby river and canal. On Thursday, May 24, over 50 local residents and community leaders came together at the South Grafton Community House to create a new vision for Farnumsville Mill Village. The event began with a walking tour of the project area. Highlights included first-hand visits to publically- and privately-held land along the river, and a tour of the Furnumsville Mill. After a brief presentation and small-group discussions of issues related to water, mill reuse, and open space and connections, participants broke into three faciltiated groups to create visions for the future of Farnumsville. The work of these groups is the basis for a synthesized vision and action plan that will be presented to the community at a public meeting on Thursday, June 14 at the South Grafton Community House.
