PITTSFIELDNear Pittsfield’s downtown, the West Branch of the Housatonic passes through a diverse urban neighborhood. The UrbanRiver Visions 2 program is an opportunity to explore possbiilites for this area, including a riverfront greenway and links to two important city parks: Wahconah Park and Clapp Park. Other opportunities include supporting neighborhood revitalization, improving water quality, and celebrating this part of the river as a community asset. The Pittsfield UrbanRiver Visions 2 event began with a well-attended River Reception at Pitt Park on the evening of Friday, May 11. Attendees of all ages enjoyed snacks and began to discuss hopes and concerns related to the river. The event continued with a daylong charrette on Saturday, May 12. Working in small groups, participants identified goals and issues related to improving trails and connections, enhancing the river as a resource, and strengthening the neighborhood's relationship to the river. Participants then worked together to create plans detailing their vision for the future of the West Branch. The two plans from the charrette will be synthesized into a single vision plan that will be presented to the community on Monday, June 4 at Pitt Park. Monday, June 4 Charrette Follow-up Meeting at Pitt Park 6pm - 7pm: Open House 7pm - 8pm: Presentation Notes and products from the charrette are recorded in the Summary Report.
