SHELBURNE FALLSThe UrbanRiver Visions 2 site for Shelburne and Buckland is the Shelburne Falls commercial district, which serves as the historic downtown for both towns. Located along the Deerfield River and spanning portions of both Shelburne and Buckland, the site encompasses both natural and man-made local attractions, including the glacial potholes, Salmon Falls, and the bridge of flowers. Opportunities include redevelopment of industrial properties and the expansion of recreation offerings. The Shelburne Falls charrette on Saturday, March 24 brought over 100 people together to talk about the future of the riverfront. Participants broke into small groups to discuss key issues related to the river and nearby land, and then used large-scale maps to produce visions for the Shelburne Falls riverfront's future. Notes and products from the charrette are recorded in the Summary Report. A unified vision plan integrating the work of each group will be presented in a public meeting at the Buckland Town Hall on May 14 starting at at 6pm. For details, please click here.
